Represent 5-hour ENERGY® This Halloween

Friday, October 25, 2013
Autumn is in full swing. The leaves are changing, days are getting shorter, and before you know it Halloween will be here! If you’re attending a Halloween get together you are going to need a costume, but not just any old Halloween costume! You don’t want to be seen wearing the same getup as someone else, too many witches, Dracula’s or ghosts could get confusing (and boring)! Instead of spending money to buy a costume, why not get creative and make one? We can’t think of a better way to energize the spooky season than representing 5-hour ENERGY® on Halloween! If you need a little help getting your creative juices flowing, here are some ideas:

A while back, we asked our fans to show us their 5-hour ENERGY® themed outfits and decorations in the Creepy Costume and Décor Contest. We had tons of awesome entries, including our first and second prize winners who dressed up as 5-hour ENERGY® shots. If you are feeling up for the challenge, you could try making a bottle costume of your own! Or multiply the fun by getting a group together and dressing up as different flavors of 5-hour ENERGY®!

Cormac Hawney’s costume won him first prize in the Creepy Costume and Décor contest. If you’re feeling ambitious and have a little spare time, you can go all out like Cormac with a full body 5-hour ENERGY® shot costume!

What you need:
1 garbage can
Shriner hat without the tassel or other red hat
2 bungee cords
1 red full body spandex suit
Blown up image of 5-hour ENERGY® shot label

Dave Rera’s costume scored him second place in the Creepy Costume and Décor contest. According to Dave, his costume was last minute and low budget. If you don’t have much time or money to spare, you could replicate his life size 5-hour ENERGY® shot costume for Halloween!

What you need:
Poster board
Lots of glitter
Paint, paint pens
Bungee or other strap to hold costume on
Duct tape
The 5-hour ENERGY® shot flavor you’re dressing up as for inspiration and enjoying after you’re done creating your costume

If dressing up as a 5-hour ENERGY® shot isn't your thing, there are other ways you can get in the spirit! Here are a few ideas of costume ideas and ways to accessorize with the help of 5-hour ENERGY®:

Feeling energetic? Dress in all black, strike a running pose and be the Energy Guy
Share hours and hours of energy! Get a cowboy hat, a badge and a bottle of 5-hour ENERGY® and dress up as Sheriff Jim, one of our popular commercial characters
Feeling sporty? Dress up as one of the 5-hour ENERGY® athletes like Clint Bowyer, Jim Furyk or one of the members of the cycling team
What did you do in the last five hours? Write a novel; learn Spanish or anything else impressive? Get energized and be “The Last 5 Hours” guy!
The Last 5 Hours Guy found Big Foot, so why not go all out and be Big Foot?
Kick it old school 5-hour ENERGY® style! Save your empty bottles and with the help of some hot glue, fashion them into a festive top hat
Show off some bling! Turn empty 5-hour ENERGY® bottles into earrings or a necklace

Do you have an awesome idea that we missed? Share it with us! Post a comment or share with us on our Facebook page or on Twitter. Of course, if you represent 5-hour ENERGY® this Halloween, be sure to send a picture our way!

Have You Entered The #5hourGoesPink Photo Contest?

Friday, October 11, 2013

At 5-hour ENERGY®, October is all about going pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are proud to be able to join the battle against breast cancer again with our new temporary Raspberry flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots! From now until the end of the year, five cents per bottle of Raspberry 5-hour ENERGY® sold will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC). This means the more you buy, the more we give. Last year we were able to donate $387,000 to support breast cancer awareness, but this year we want you to help us write an even bigger check!

All month long, the 5-hour ENERGY® athletes are helping us spread the word! Clint Bowyer's #15 Toyota Camry has gone pink for three races and many of our other athletes have swapped their standard uniforms for pink versions.

To continue with October's pink theme, we're holding a month-long photo contest! To enter the #5hourGoesPink Photo Contest, simply submit a photo of you wearing pink. Show your breast cancer awareness support by snapping a quick pic with a friend or family member. Long day at work? Break up your day with a quick pic of your pink attire, and enjoy your Raspberry 5-hour ENERGY® shot afterwards to get through the rest of your day. Your pink getup could win you a one month supply of 5-hour ENERGY® and an LBBC prize pack!

Help us spread breast cancer awareness by showing us your pink pride! The deadline for the #5hourGoesPink Photo Contest is October 31, so get going and submit your photo today!

The 5-hour ENERGY® Race Reporter Is…

Thursday, October 3, 2013
We're excited to announce that Tara Mager from New Jersey is the winner of the 5-hour ENERGY® Race Reporter Sweepstakes! Before we introduce you to our winner, here's a reminder of the once in a lifetime racing package she won:
  • Travel and accommodations for the winner and guest to Charlotte, NC from October 11 through October 13
  • Unique team access at the track including garage and pit tour, driver introductions and the opportunity to watch the Bank of America 500 from the pit box
  • Honorary pit crew memberships
  • Winner's name on Clint Bowyer's #15 5-hour ENERGY® Toyota Camry
  • Two tickets to the NASCAR Hall of Fame
  • Transportation to and from race, and to and from hotel/airport
  • Michael Waltrip Racing shop tour
  • The chance to meet and have pictures taken with Michael Waltrip and Clint Bowyer
Ever since Tara met and married a die-hard NASCAR fan 17 years ago, she has become a racing fan herself. Now Tara can't wait to attend her first race and experience this once in a lifetime prize package with her husband! Learn more about our Race Reporter winner in this interview:
  • What inspired you to enter the 5-hour ENERGY® Race Reporter Contest?
    • My husband, Harry, was born into a NASCAR-loving family. His nickname is even Hot Rod Harry! His 50th birthday was September 29 so I told him that if we won, this was his very special birthday present. We were meant to win!
  • Did you ever think you would win the Race Reporter Sweepstakes?
    • No, we really didn't think we would win but I am a firm believer that you have to be in it to win it.
  • How long have you been a racing fan? Do you remember the first race you ever watched?
    • I didn't really start watching until Harry and I met 17 years ago. My husband remembered the first race we ever watched together was the 1996 Daytona 500 and we wanted Dale Earnhardt to win! My husband has attended NASCAR races at Dover and Pocono several times, but I have never attended a live NASCAR race.
  • Describe your reaction when we told you that you were the winner of the Race Reporter Sweepstakes.
    • I didn't believe it at first. I had to listen to the message at least ten times and I kept saying, “No way, this isn't real!” Now it's starting to sink in and we are just so excited. I cannot even put our excitement into words!
  • With so many different parts of the prize package it might be hard to decide, but what part of this experience are you looking forward to the most?
    • Just being at the race is the most exciting, but I am also ecstatic about meeting the drivers, especially Clint! How often does that happen in a lifetime?
  • Not many people have the opportunity to watch races from the pit box. How excited are you to be in the middle of all the action?
    • Oh yes! My husband is most excited about being in the pit box. He said the only way that happens is if you win a contest or are family of one of the racers. This will be our first NASCAR race together and it’s a Chase Race so there will be lots of celebrating going on!
We think our fans are good luck, the last time we sent one of our fans to a race, Clint Bowyer took the checkered flag, which is why we're excited for Tara to be front and center for the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte this year. The 5-hour ENERGY® team will be checking in on Tara during and after her trip, so stay tuned for tweets, photos, updates and more. Congratulations, Tara!
